Xin Ying Phang & Zheng Gu awarded Old Centralians' Trust Student Activity Awards
Chemical Engineering students awarded Old Centralians' Trust Student Activity Awards which recognise their engagement with extra-curricular activities
Congratulations to MEng undergraduates Xin Ying Phang and Zheng Gu on being awarded Old Centralians' Trust - Student Activity Awards.
These annual awards are made by the Old Centralians’ Trust on behalf of the City and Guilds College Association, and are aimed at encouraging undergraduate students in the pursuit of extra-curricular activity.
Applicants are requested to provide a brief statement as to why they feel they should qualify, based on their level of extra-curricular activity. This year the Trust received a number of excellent applications and awards were made across the Faculty of Engineering Departments.
Miss Xin Ying Phang is a third year MEng Chemical Engineering study (entering the 4th year in 2015-16) and has served as President of Chamber Music Society; Industry Liaison of Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WSET) Society and Project Manager of Energy Society. In the past she has served as: Executive committee member of Student Volunteering Week and London Climate Forum; Treasurer of the Chamber Music Society and Open Day Departmental representative.
She was the first student in the college to be awarded Imperial Plus Volunteer Accreditation in 2014-15 from the Union, by clocking over 100 hours spent volunteering with clubs and societies, and completing four volunteering assignments/modules within a term. Xin Phang is also an Imperial College Outreach mentor.
Mr Zheng Gu is a third year MEng Chemical Engineering study (entering the 4th year in 2015-16) and has served as Project Manager of the Imperial College Energy Society, Section leader for Social Project Technopreneurship, Section leader for Social Entrepreneur Project Unseen Tours and Treasurer of the Enactus Imperial Society.
Zheng Gu is also working towards Imperial Plus Volunteering Accreditation.
Many congratulations to Zheng Gu and Xin Ying Phang on achieving this recognition of their outstanding contributions to a wide range of extra-curricular occupations and interests.
