Imperial launches its strategy for 2015-2020
Imperial College London has today launched its new Strategy 2015-2020 which sets out Imperial's path for the next five years.
The strategy is guided by the College’s mission to achieve enduring excellence in research and education in science, engineering, medicine and business for the benefit of society.
In an email to the staff community to share the new strategy, the President and the Provost wrote: “We hope that each member of the College will seize this opportunity to advocate for what we do, be agile and courageous with new ideas and seek out new collaborations. It is impossible to know where the challenges and opportunities over the next five years will be, but we do know that we have great people and we will build a more adaptive and resilient organisation so that we will be ready for whatever the future holds.”
The approach for the new College Strategy emphasises the College’s strength in its core disciplines, on which multidisciplinary research and education form the platform for addressing global challenges. These Global Challenges then become the themes around which the strategy is structured. At the core are the ‘strategy enablers’ – the inherently international Imperial community (students, staff and alumni) and the intellectual and physical environment and associated infrastructure (including digital infrastructure).
The development of the new strategy began in March 2014. Its development was supported by seven workstreams and also included input from a College-wide consultation in March this year.
The full strategy can be accessed online together with background on the process behind its development.
