Patient Safety

We invite you to share your experiences of where evidence and training is making a difference to the safety of patients.

Health Education England’s Commission on Education and Training for Patient Safety has invited Imperial to collect evidence and review current education and training to identify best practice and help make recommendations for the future to improve healthcare quality and safety.

We want to hear from individuals including patients and health staff from all levels and disciplines, as well as experts and organisations with an interest in improving the quality and safety of healthcare through education and training.

What makes effective education and training in quality and safety in healthcare?

What are the priorities for patient safety education and training in the future?

We will be collecting evidence from June until 31 August 2015 and your feedback will help inform the Commission report to be published in November 2015.

The review is being jointly led by Imperial’s Centre for Health Policy and the Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality (CPSSQ).

The Centre for Health Policy forms part of Imperial’s Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI). The Centre’s vision is to catalyse the development, uptake and diffusion of innovative, evidence-based health policy around the world.

Imperial CPSSQ is a partnership between a number of units within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Imperial College London, Dr Foster Unit and UCL. They bring together researchers from a range of clinical and scientific fields aimed at improving quality and safety. Close links between academic research and clinical services help with translation of research findings into patient care, and ensure that their research is clinically relevant. All healthcare professionals want their patients to have safe care; the PSTRC/CPSSQ aims to contribute to this, both at Imperial College Healthcare Trust and in the wider NHS.
