Infiniti Red Bull Racing visits to promote a Year in Industry
t’s not often you see a Formula 1 car perform a three point turn in Exhibition Road before driving up a ramp into the College main entrance, but that’s what happened when Infiniti Red Bull Racing came to visit the Department. A team of F1 engineers and senior management accompanied the world championship winning RB6 car to promote the company’s undergraduate year in industry scheme. Having the RB6 car parked inside the Main Entrance hopefully motivated our students during their exam preparation studies and we know from discussions with industry just how important industry placements are in terms helping to kick-start careers. Preference is often given to graduates who have industrial experience as part of their degree.
Pictured with the car are Mech Eng students and Infiniti RBR management (clockwise around car from left): Ed Durkin (year in industry Rolls Royce Motors); Ruben Doyle (team principal Imperial Racing Green), Barney Barnett (Infiniti Red Bull Racing), Carl Bayliss (CEO Infiniti UK) James Mostyn (Year in industry Ilmor Engineering), Alex Mason (year in industry Lockheed Martin) and Guy Khosla (year in industry Atkins Defence).
