IDE graduate start up wins International Award
Q-Bot Limited, founded by Tom Lipinski and Peter Childs and managed by Innovation Design Engineering graduate, Mathew Holloway won best start-up at the Invention and Entrepreneurship in Robotics and Automation Awards in Seattle, USA.
The judges were impressed with the company’s cutting edge robotics technology and the social impact of its innovation.
Q-bot uses a robot, small enough to be inserted in to an air vent to survey and apply insulation to the underside of floorboards. Previously, the only way to insulate floorboards was to lift them- an expensive and disruptive procedure.
The system has already been trialled with a number of social housing clients including Camden council, Peabody and CityWest Homes. Q-Bot also has the financial support of Innovate UK
