by Mrs Alexandra Grainger

The GSA Implementation Working Group plans meeting alongside annual RPRG meeting to assist countries to access praziquantel drug donation programme

SCI and RTI are the co-chairs of the Global Schistosomiasis Alliance’s  ‘Implementation Working Group’. The GSA’s Implementation Working Group is determined to assist countries to benefit from and make efficient use of the Merck KGaA praziquantel donation. The aim is to assist countries to implement treatment as appropriate for their country’s needs and capacity.

The GSA Implementation Working Group plans to host a meeting of the four World Health Organization (WHO) priority countries (DRC, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Tanzania) and a further 5 others (Côte d’Ivoire, Malawi, Mozambique, Sudan, Uganda), alongside the annual Regional Programme Review Group (RPRG) meeting at the beginning of October in Benin. The RPRG receives and considers applications from countries for drugs donated by GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Merck and Merck KGaA.
