TSM-CDT Outreach Prizes awarded for outstanding contributions to outreach

Congratulations to Marc Coury (cohort 3) and Valerie Vaissier (cohort 2) for winning the inaugural TSM-CDT Outreach Prizes for their outstanding contributions to outreach. They each receive £200 for developing further outreach activities. Many congratulations to them both!

2013 Prize: Marc Coury

Since Marc’s arrival in the TSM-CDT, he has been a constant presence in the outreach activities of the group, helping at numerous events and activities, which in no small part has led to the success of these events. He has also helped at events within the physics department such as at open days and the INSIGHTS work experience. More recently at the Festival of Imperial, Marc developed his own outreach activity, which proved immensely popular and has resulted in him now running his own events. He is now often contacted directly by the events team to run activities internally within the college and externally and has cemented his place amongst the key outreach participants at the college.

2012 Prize: Valerie Vaissier

Valerie burst onto the outreach scene and is often found at the heart of TSM outreach activities. Recently Valerie has become heavily involved in the Solar Spark project, a nationwide initiative to educate children and adults about solar energy, from current research and understanding to possible future developments. Through engaging hands-on experiments, which Valerie has tailored and perfected, she has become the London representative for the project, and has taken Solar Spark to the Big Bang Fair as well as numerous school visits. Through these activities Valerie has proved herself an extremely worthy recipient of this prize.
