Max Boleininger wins the TSM Outreach Prize 2014
Now in the 2nd year of his PhD, Max Boleininger is at the heart of TSM's outreach and public engagement activities.
Max has always shown a keen interest in outreach since he first joined TSM, from initially helping out with the activities of other members of the group to now planning and organising his own successful activities.
In 2014 Max took the bold step of organising and managing Imperial College’s Physics section of the Pint of Science festival, a 3 day celebration of science that takes place in eight cities in the UK and 20 other cities across the globe. All 3 days were a complete sell out, with nearly 200 people attending the events to listen to the excellent speakers that Max convinced to come along and present. The event was such a great success that Max has been asked to organise the 2015 event. In doing this he is helping to inspire members of the newer cohorts to take part in outreach activities. On top of this Max continues to undertake various other outreach activities across the college as well as undertaking school visits to promote material science as well as enthusing the next generation of scientists.
