Gathering in Hyde Park for the first ever TSM-CDT football tournament
On Friday 7th August 2015, twenty brave souls from the Centre for Doctoral Training on Theory and Simulation of Materials (TSM-CDT) gathered in Hyde Park to play the first ever TSM-CDT football tournament! Four mixed teams with players from almost every cohort and even two fearless members of staff, namely Dr Nicholas Bristowe and Dr Vassili Vorontsov, competed against each other in the 5-a-side tournament for victory.
In the end, the team made from Hikmatyar Hasan, Jacek Golebiowski, Markus Tautschnig, Joel Posthuma de Boer and Dr Nicholas Bristowe proved to be the most talented of them all. They did not only win glory and honour but also the privilege to hold on to the most precious TSM-CDT Football Champions trophy for the next year.
Congratulations to those who took part, you did very well indeed!
However, the tournament was not the only highlight on that sunny summer evening. In Princes Gardens, the hungry and exhausted players were joined by other members of the TSM-CDT including some of the current UROP students and other guests. Those who came had a lovely BBQ with plenty of food, nibbles and ice-cold refreshments.
Thank you, members and guests of the TSM-CDT, for this fun and merry event! Hopefully, we will see all of you next year again.
