Last week saw the conclusion of this year's talent development programme for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff.
IMPACT, or Imperial Positive About Cultural Talent, is a four-month programme which includes specialised workshops and project work, as well as access to mentoring and networking opportunities.
The final session of the year saw the participants presenting project findings and recommendations on a variety of topics – from recruitment and promotion of BAME staff at senior levels, to enabling staff to suggest ways to improve the running of the College.
Certificates were presented by Professor Anand Anandalingam, Dean of the Business School and the College’s Executive Sponsor for Imperial As One, an advisory group made up of BAME staff. Professor Debra Humphris, Vice Provost (Education) and Chair of the Equality and Diversity Committee, also attended to congratulate the cohort.
Giovanni Morisco, Events Supervisor in Campus Services, is one of this year’s IMPACT cohort. He said: “When you’re on the ground, doing your day-to-day job, you don’t always realise your potential and what you’re good at – you take for granted the things that you do well. IMPACT helped me to identify my strengths and weaknesses and gave me more confidence.”
