Public lecture by Matthew Hill (CSIRO, Australia) on the application of Metal Organic Frameworks for carbon capture. Moderated by comedian Adam Hills

The Chemical Engineering Department was proud to host Dr Matthew Hill from Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) for his talk titled "A show about nothing: Getting rid of carbon dioxide with a whole lot of holes". The lecture featured a discussion of Metal Organic Framework (MOFs), a class of compounds that shows great promise in gas storage and separation applications. Following the lecture, a public Q&A session was moderated by Australian comedian Adam Hills from Channel 4's "The Last Leg". Participants were also encouraged to join the discussion online on social media with #CO2sponges.

Dr Matthew Hill is the winner of the 2014 Australian Prime Minister's Prize for Science and Australian Research Council Future Fellow. His research team are actively involved in bringing interdisciplinary technology to the market. This lecture was co-hosted by the Department of Chemical Engineering, CSIRO, The Sustainable Gas Institute and The Australian High Commission in London.
