Professor Stephen Glaister has recently been appointed as the Chair of the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) for a 12-month term.
Professor Glaister, has served as a non-executive director on the ORR board since April 2015, and is Emeritus Professor of Transport and Infrastructure in the Department. He will be responsible for leading the independent regulator as it continues its vital role in holding Network Rail and Highways England to account, and ensuring safety and efficiency.
Professor Glaister has previously served as a member of a number of transport boards including Transport for London, as well as acting in an advisory role to the government and the Transport Select Committee. He has recently retired as director of the RAC Foundation.

Professor Glaister was recently awarded the PTRC Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the transport planning profession.
