Hundreds of people around the world took to social media to share their thoughts on Professor Sir Gordon Conway's talk.

On Tuesday 19 January, Professor Sir Gordon Conway presented the 28th annual Schrödinger Lecture, asking: can we feed the world sustainably?

Africa was a hot-point for interaction, with Sir Gordon's comments prompting a lot of responses on Twitter.

The event was incredibly popular - over 2000 people registered for the 500 or so spaces available to the public for this talk - so Twitter was flush with interactions while the live-stream of the talk allowed hundreds of people across the world to watch live remotely.

Following the talk, researchers from Imperial who work on food sustainability and on ways to improve crop resistance and farming yields presented some of their work.

This group of researchers, whose work will have direct impact on helping farmers reduce financial losses and increase production, included the FungiAlert team, Chemistry PhD students Kerry O'Donnelly and Angela de Manzanos, whose idea has won multiple awards over the past year.
