Dive into a career in marine biology this March

We know more about the surface of the moon than about the depths of our planet's oceans.

So in today's world, the prospect of exploring one of the last scientific frontiers is pretty exciting, no matter what you’re studying. If the idea of a career in marine biology sparks your curiosity, then Oceanology International, the world’s largest marine technology and ocean science exhibition and conference, is one event not to miss.

Taking place 15-17 March 2016 at ExCeL, London, this year’s Careers Day features the following programmes designed for university students interested in breaking into the marine industry:

  • Society for Underwater Technology’s (SUT) Young Professionals Seminar, 10:00-12:00

This session will feature a series of young professionals discussing  their route from graduation to marine industry jobs and the exciting  projects they are now working on. To reserve a seat at this free seminar, email claire.martin@reedexpo.co.uk.

  • Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) Workshop, 13:00-15:30

This workshop provides an introduction to researching and applying for job opportunities and will discuss, what employers look for, where to find jobs, analysing job adverts, preparing a CV and how a professional body can support your career. To reserve a seat at this free workshop, email events@imarest.org.

On top of these insightful sessions designed to help you explore the different career paths within ocean science, you’ll also have free access to the exhibition floor which features over 500 international marine technology and ocean science companies, as well as vessels and demonstrations on the quay side. It’s your chance to speak with the ‘big fish’ in the industry and ask any questions on what to expect from a career in marine biology.
