Zoe Slattery recognised by the 2015 Ford Prize for Women in STEM Study Competition.

Zoe Slattery, who is in her first year of Electrical and Information Engineering, recently received a runner up prize from the 2015 Ford Prize for Women in Stem Study Competition.   The Competition is open to all UK first year girls undertaking a STEM degree and aims to inspire younger girls to pursue a STEM career.  It is run in association with the Ford PWN (Professional Women’s Network), and includes a first prize of £1,000 and three runner up prizes of £250.

As part of the selection process, Zoe took part in an interview at Ford’s Dunton Technical Centre in Essex.  She was given a tour of the facilities, including visiting testing rooms for cars such as the -40oC room and the crash testing bay.  Other competitors were from biomedicine and aerospace engineering, and Zoe talked about her interest in medical robotics, volunteering at the Cambridge Science Centre and running chess clubs for primary school girls. She is now considering applying for an internship at Ford over the summer.

Congratulations to Zoe.
