World Antibiotic Awareness Week Competition Prize Winner - Caroline Chalumeau

Imperial Engineering undergraduate, Caroline Chalumeau pledged to become an Antibiotic Guardian and won an iPad in the competition prize draw

The NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in HCAI and AMR recently spread the word about the growing threat of antibiotic resistance by manning Antibiotic Amnesty stands across two of the College’s campuses from Monday 16^th November until 20^th November. 

Over 200 people from the College community signed up to become antibiotic guardians during the course of World Antibiotic Awareness week and entered into a competition prize draw to win an iPad. Imperial Engineering undergraduate, Caroline Chalumeau’s name was picked out of the box by Diane Ashiru Oredope (National Lead for the Antibiotic Guardian Campaign) and Susan Hopkins  both from Public Health England, as the winner of the iPad.

Caroline Chalumeau spoke about why she signed up to become an Antibiotic Guardian -

“I signed because I was already pretty familiar with the issue and knew that some bacterias are starting to resist the antibiotics, leading to certain diseases making a comeback, which is a serious public health issue. I personally do not like to take medication for anything and everything, especially without medical advice. So for me pledging that was quite obvious”.
