50 million tonnes of rubbish was sent to landfill in 2012. PwC is challenging every student to be productive and talk rubbish.
As our country’s population grows, we are faced with the problem of just how to manage all the waste we create. Over the past decade, recycling has become a real priority – but what do we do about the rest, that ends up in unsustainable landfill areas?
PwC are asking the brightest and best students that very question, encouraging you to find ways to reduce, reuse and recycle materials like clothing, plastic, food, raw materials, energy, obsolete products, construction waste and soil.
Who can enter? Every student studying at a UK University is able to contribute and talk rubbish - the challenge is hosted on an idea management platform that allows you to post your ideas, comment on other people’s ideas and vote on the ideas you think really stand out. All you need is a computer with internet access.
So what can you gain? Alongside gaining a unique insight into the sector and a chance to showcase your innovative talents, there will also be prizes for the 60 students with the best ideas and most engagement. Students with the top 10 ideas will be invited to pitch to a panel made up of PwC experts who will decide on the winner. The winner will receive an exclusive work shadowing opportunity and £1,000.
