Not sure what to do after your BSc/MSc/PhD? Don't know what skills you need to do a career transition? Discover alternatives to academia.
When: Saturday 5 March 10.30-15.00
Where: Christopher Ingold G21 Ramsay Lecture Theatre, UCL, London - WC1H 0AJ
The society of Spanish Researchers in UK (SRUK) brings you a knowledge sharing platform to support and enhance the employability of graduates and postgraduates in the private and public sector.
The speakers will discuss alternative careers to academia and give you hands-on tips on how to change your career pathway:
- Which soft and hard skills are required in each field (and how to write it down nicely in your CV to sell yourself better)?
- How does a scientist end up working for the European Commission?
- Do you want to influence the Science Policy of your country?
The speakers, coming from different sectors (Science Policy, Science communication, Pharmaceutical Industry, Telecommunications enterprises, etc.), will give insights into their career transitions, how is their job like, and what could you do to start a career on their field. They will also point out which soft-skills are valued in each sector, and will teach us how to write them down in the CV.
This event will be a great opportunity to learn what “out-of-Academia” options are available out there for you, how to start focusing your career, and start expanding your network on that field.
