The award is presented annually by the North American Membrane Society to individuals early in professional careers in membrane science.

The Teller's Committee at the North American Membrane Society (NAMS) conducted the final verification of the rigorous review process which involved seven reviewers from industry and academia to award Dr Marchetti the prestigious Young Membrane Scientist Award. 

Dr Patrizia Marchetti joined the Department in 2009 as a PhD student and continued her work in membrane science under the supervision of Professor Andrew Livingston first as a research assistant and then on to her current position as Research Associate since 2013.

Her research has recently focussed on organic solvent nanofiltration and the use of nanotechnology and membranes to develop novel technologies for purification in the pharmaceutical sector.

Dr Marchetti will receive $500 in prize money and a one year NAMS membership plus the opportunity to present her research at the 2016 NAMS award session. Many congratulations for Dr Marchetti on winning this prestigious award and receiving outstanding international recognition.
