Welcome to The Alternative Internship; answer one simple question to be in with a chance of spending your summer travelling the world, fully funded.
Where do you see the biggest change in global society in the next five years?
If you can answer this question in no more than 300 words and are either a penultimate year undergraduate or penultimate year PhD student, you could win a grant of £5,000 to spend four weeks of the summer travelling the world, testing your hypothesis and carrying out research to support your argument. You will then be based at Baillie Gifford's Edinburgh offices for a further two weeks, with full expenses paid, writing up your research before presenting it to their investment teams.
It’s a simple enough question. But answering it demands creativity, intellectual curiosity and penetrating insight. To come up with a genuinely original response, you will also need to be an independent thinker with a fresh perspective.
This is going to be an intellectually rigorous, testing and challenging project.
Baillie Gifford are looking for high-level research and convincing, well-structured arguments that will challenge the way some of the brightest minds in our industry think.
