I think for me Athena SWAN is about raising awareness
– Uta Griesenbach
To celebrate International Women’s Day (8th of March) NHLI is launching the Women Series podcasts. This is a series of podcast interviews which aims to celebrate and promote the brilliant female academics and researchers at NHLI, and to highlight Athena SWAN issues.
The first podcast interview is with Uta Griesenbach, Professor of Molecular Medicine, who co-leads the Gene Therapy Group of the Genetic Medicine & Population Health Division of NHLI. Uta discusses her career to date including her ambitions and highlights, as well as what Athena SWAN means to her.
Uta talks about those who have inspired her in her work as a scientist. “I’ve admired many people but one of the people who stands out is Francis Collins. Francis Collins was initially involved in the cloning of the cystic fibrosis gene, he then became the father of the human genome project”.
Hear which superpower Professor Griesenbach would choose, and how she would use it to further her research in gene therapy.
