Researchers and collaborators come together at second annual meeting
The Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in HCAI and AMR welcomed researchers, collaborators and visitors to its second annual meeting
The Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in HCAI and AMR recently held our second annual Scientific Advisory Board Meeting at the Hammersmith Campus. Over 80 collaborators, colleagues and visitors heard a series of presentations about our work.
Presentations covered a molecular epidemiology based approach for investigating healthcare associated infections and the Use of hospital data sources for the diagnosis and surveillance of healthcare associated infections. The audience also heard about our work exploring population-level health literacy, levels and antimicrobial consumption. Our project which aims to improve prescribing by understanding determinants of antibiotic prescribing in surgeons versus physicians was particularly resonant for many of the attendees. The presentation session ended with a summary of our progress estimating the burden of antimicrobial resistance.
The meeting was attended by individuals from our partnering organisations Public Health England, The University of Cambridge Veterinary School, The Sanger Institute and Imperial College Health Partners.
