Dr Raheelah Ahmad, Healthcare Management Lead at the Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in HCAIs and AMR has been awarded the 3 year fellowship

Dr Raheelah Ahmad has been awarded the three year NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowship commencing in June 2016. Knowledge Mobilisation Research Fellowships (KMR Fellowships) are designed to support a balance of innovative knowledge mobilisation and research into the processes and impacts of such innovation. Through innovative practice and systematic study of that practice KMR Fellows should advance knowledge and understanding about research use, influence and impact.

Dr Ahmad’s mentoring team was led by Professor Alison Holmes, Director of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The team included, Professor Alan Johnson at PHE; Professor Ewan Ferlie and Dr Reda Lebcir.

Dr Ahmad thanked the support of her HPRU colleagues in achieving the fellowship: “ as well as acknowledging support from the senior academics  – I want to thank Enrique Castro-Sanchez, Esmita Charani, Michiyo Iwami, Sara Yadav and Juliet Allibone for the amazing peer support throughout the process”

The research project is entitled Optimising knowledge mobilisation surrounding antibiotic utilisation in the community setting.This project will provide timely actionable insights and tools as NICE guidance recommends that community sector staff promote and monitor use of antimicrobials ahead of further guidelines aimed at the public.
