Alexander Luisi, first year Electronic and Information Engineering undergraduate, has been awarded a Diamond Jubilee Scholarship from the IET.
As part of the selection process, Alexander took part in a 40 minute interview at the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) - ten minutes of which involved an extended talk with three members of the IET regarding “What Engineering means to me”. Alexander talked about how engineering is a mind-set that is learned, and encompasses four core values- Flexibility, Insight, Drive and Collaboration, with each relying on the other. He gave examples in the history of engineering where these could be found, such as Apollo 13 and the Wright Brother’s first flight and explained why they are important values to engineering.
The winners of the IET scholarships receive £1,000 for up to three years. Congratulations to Alexander, and we wish him the best of luck with his degree.
