NPL_GIST President Chancellor_2016-03-19FlexEnable is an innovative company in the area of plastic electronics pursuing flexible displays and sensors. They have been successful developing key technology in industry-compatible manufacturing platform for low-temperature organic thin-film transistors. Dr Paul Cain, Strategy Director of FlexEnable, warmly welcomed and introduced their recent activities as well as up-to-date demonstration items, such as conformable wearable organic liquid crystal displays (OLCDs), flexible X-ray detectors, and fingerprint sensors. The tour was a great opportunity for GIST and FlexEnable in that these pioneers from academia and industry could interact and discuss the latest advances and challenges in plastic electronics.

At National Physical Laboratory, Dr Kamal Hossain gave an excellent overview of NPL’s history and remit.  Dr Fernando Castro and Dr Sebastian Wood (a Plastic Electronics CDT alumnus) provided a fascinating tour of the labs and facilities.

Many thanks to Jess Wade for organising the trip, and to FlexEnable and NPL for hosting us!
