A new paper recently published by the HexMat team addresses the temperature sensitivity of dwell fatigue. Why Ti component dwell debit seems to be worst at about 120oC and diminishes away above 200oC has been a long-standing technological question for the aero-engine industry, but this paper by Zhen Zhang, Mitch Cuddihy and Fionn Dunne at Imperial proposes some mechanistic explanations. It may be found at Proc. R. Soc. Vol. 471, Issue 2181, 2015; DOI: 10.1098/rspa.2015.0214 (http://rspa.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/471/2181/20150214) in the September issue.
