Winning paper presented at SMARTGREENS 2016 conference
DoC MSc Alumni Benjamin Westfield and his supervisor Anandha Gopalan have been awarded the Best Paper award at the 5th International Conference on Smart Cities and Green ICT Systems (SMARTGREENS) for their paper titled, "Orka: A New Technique to Profile the Energy Usage of Android Applications".
This work presents a new tool that analyses an Android application and provides feedback on exactly where the application is expanding energy, thus enabling developers to improve its energy-efficiency. This is achieved by profiling the application using user-defined test-cases, code injection techniques and bytecode analysis.
This work was done by Benjamin Westfield as part of his MSc in Computing Science student Individual Project.
