Dr Enrique Castro-Sánchez, Lead Research Nurse at the NIHR Health Protection Unit (HPRU) in HCAI and AMR and ARC Early Career Research Fellow marked International Nurses Day with an interview in Spain in the Salut i Forca publication.
Dr Sanchez spoke about the role of nurses in infection prevention and control and antimicrobial stewardship, as part of International Nurses Day activities.
Separately, Dr Sanchez was recently asked to comment in Nursing Standard on the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) HIV guidelines. The new draft guidance recommends that people at high risk of HIV infection should be routinely offered a test in general practice and secondary care in order to increase the uptake of HIV testing. Dr Sanchez described the guidance as ‘forward thinking’. The guidance is under consultation until June 15.
