Enrique Castro-Sanchez to speak on the impact that gamification, serious games and health apps can have as innovative behaviour change interventions
Dr Enrique Castro-Sánchez, Lead Research Nurse and ARC Early Career research fellow at the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in HCAI and AMR, has been invited to the Gamification World Conference in Madrid later this year in October. Dr Castro-Sánchez will present on the impact that gamification, serious games and health apps can have as innovative behaviour change interventions in appropriate use of antibiotics and infection prevention and control.
During the talk Dr Castro-Sánchez will give an overview of the group work evaluating research experiences using games in infectious diseases, as well as the lessons learnt following the development of ‘On Call: antibiotics”, the computer game focused on influencing antimicrobial prescribing behaviours in hospital clinicians. Additionally, he will discuss the ongoing work developing gamified apps that can be used by patients to support infection prevention and control activities such as hand hygiene, together with HELPER, the app developed to increase patient’s health literacy about antibiotics”
