The shortlisted FoNS-MAD teams are currently completing their summer placements, developing their projects to proof-of-concept stage in the lab. This year’s teams are:

Summary of idea: Electrochemical MIP-capacitor sensor powered by smartphone NFC
The teams will submit a detailed summary of their findings at the end of their placement and the competition will culminate in an event open to staff, students and the general public, on Wednesday 26 October 2016 from 17.30, where the teams will present their final projects to our VIP judges and an overall winner will be announced. The judges for this year’s competition are Professor Dame Julia Higgins, Professor of Polymer Science and Senior Research Investigator in the Department of Chemical Engineering; Professor Sir John Pendry from the Department of Physics; and Professor Lord Robert Winston, Professor of Science and Society and Emeritus Professor of Fertility Studies; and Dr Ruth Allan, of Deloitte.
