Last weekend a team of around 20 relay trios represented Imperial College London at the world's biggest duathlon.
A team from the Faculty of Engineering, largely made up of members of the Department of Chemical Engineering but including people from across the Faculty, as well some friends and family, took part in the 2016 London Duathlon last weekend.
The London Duathlon, which was held at Richmond Park on 18 September, has become a ChemEng tradition and in recent years we have been joined by individuals from across the College. The team takes part in the Duathlon Relay competition which consists of three parts: a 10 km run, 44 km cycle and ends with a 5 km sprint finish.
From PhD students to academic staff, everyone gave their best to accomplish their personal target times or to break their previous records. All teams competed admirably but special mention goes to Dan Brewer, Simon Crisp and Theoder Videnberg for setting the fastest time from across the Imperial teams and coming 3rd place overall in the whole event. After (almost) everyone crossed the finish line, we got together for the inevitable group picture and then headed off for a well-deserved BBQ party.
Thanks to all the participants, volunteers and supporters and in particular a huge thank you goes to Anusha Sri-Pathmanathan who set-up, organised and coordinated the team.
See you at the 2017 London Duathlon!
