Plastic Electronics CDT Symposium 2016

The annual Plastic Electronics CDT Symposium took place on Monday 19th September 2016 at Imperial College.

Pascal CachelinFinal year PhD students from Cohort 4 gave talks on their research, and we were particularly happy to host invited talks from Prof Garry Rumbles (University of Colorado, Boulder) and Dr Jeremy Burroughes (Cambridge Display Technology Ltd.).  Congratulations to Pascal Cachelin (supervised by Prof Cees Bastiaansen and Prof Ton Peijs, QMUL) on winning the best talk prize.  We were delighted to welcome back to Imperial three PE-CDT alumni to give guest talks: Dr David James from Cohort 1 (Research Scientist at Merck Chemicals), Dr Alexandra Ramadan (Postdoctoral Researcher at Oxford University) from Cohort 3, and Dr Sebastian Wood (Research Scientist at National Physical Laboratory) from Cohort 2.  The alumni talked about their time spent at the CDT and how this helped them on their career paths, and gave some advice to current students. 

CDT AlumniPhD students from Cohorts 5 and 6 presented posters during the lunchtime and evening networking sessions.  Judges from CPE academics, industrial Affiliates and external advisory board shortlisted 8 poster presenters to give 3 minute flash presentations.  Congratulations to Matthew Dyson (supervised by Prof Natalie Stingelin and Prof Martin Heeney) on winning the poster prize, and to Becky Kilmurray (supervised by Dr Martyn McLachlan, Prof Martin Heeney, Dr David Daughton from Lakeshore) and Adam Wright (supervised by Prof Laura Herz and Prof Michael Johnston) on their runner up prizes.
