CRUK Career Development Fellowship Success

by Kathryn Johnson

Cancer Research UK Career Development Fellowship awarded to support new cancer research group.

Dr Luca Magnani has been awarded the Cancer Research UK Career Development Fellowship which offers outstanding scientists 6 years of support to set up their first independent cancer research group. The fellowship covers salaries and associated running expenses for the Fellow, one postdoctoral researcher, and one technician, plus equipment up to £25,000.

Dr Magnani explains what the fellowship will mean to him and his research: This fellowship means I will be able to focus on an ambitious program of science that might change how we understand breast cancer progression. The goal of this application is really to dissect why many women develop endocrine therapy resistance. CRUK invested in this project and supported us in asking these critical questions from a different angle. Now I will be able to perform critical experiments using patient-derived material and an unprecedented array of techniques. This fellowship really gives me the chance and the support I need for of asking some complicated questions.
