Explore the experiments of Imperial's rural campus

by Hayley Dunning, Martin Sayers

From rabbits and birds to pastures and ponds, Imperial's Silwood Park campus has been running field experiments since the 1940s.

The College’s central London South Kensington campus is a hive of activity this week as students settle in, but Imperial also has a rural campus near Ascot, called Silwood Park.

This was acquired as a base for ecological experiments and research in the 1940s, and despite the addition of high-tech labs it is still the home of many long-running and newly set up field experiments.

Professor Mick Crawley, who has been involved in the campus since the 1970s, talks us through some of the experiments in this short video.
