by Lucy Chivers

Professor Ahmer Wadee was recently awarded an honorary post of Visiting Professor at the University of Western Sydney (UWS), Australia.

Professor Wadee will be Visiting Professor in the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics at UWS, which he visited in late September in order to initiate a collaboration with the group working on the buckling of lattice nano-materials, including graphene.

His appointment was the initiative of the Deputy Dean, Professor Yang Xiang who leads the relevant research group in UWS and is a leading figure investigating the nonlinear structural mechanics of these materials.

During this visit, Professor Wadee also delivered two research seminars: one to UWS and one to the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney.

For the latter, he was hosted by Professor Kim Rasmussen, an internationally leading researcher on the stability of steel structures and the Associate Dean in the Faculty of Engineering and IT at the University of Sydney.
