Imperial Hazelab to be featured in documentary on Titanic sinking
Dr Guillermo Rein and his research group will appear in the Channel 4 programme "Titanic: The New Evidence" on New Year's Day.
Imperial College London and the research and members of Hazelab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering are featured in this new documentary on the Titanic, where new and fascinating evidence is revealed and put together. It revisits the blazing fires burning in the ship's coal bunkers and their effect on the sinking.
Dr Guillermo Rein was interviewed at length, and coal fire demonstrations were conducted in the Whitelaw Labs of Mechanical Engineering. The documentary also shows a computer simulation of plausible fire effects on the ship.
The film "Titanic: The New Evidence" will air on Channel 4 on 1 January at 8 pm.
