CQD Cohort 7 member, Ben Walker, has recently been listed as an author on a new paper in Physical Review A.
The paper, entitled ‘Phase-space views into dye-microcavity thermalized and condensed photons’, explores new momentum space views into the dye-filled optical microcavities used for photon Bose-Einstein condensation. These momentum space views are tied in with the more typical position space views, and an upper bound is put on the effective photon-photon interaction strength in the cavity. The paper also briefly explores how momentum resolved spectra can be used to study thermalization and the breakdown thereof.
The work is from the experimental branch of the photon-BEC group at Imperial, lead by Rob Nyman, with the main author being Jakov Marelic.
