Dr Theoni Georgiou, CPE member and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Materials, has been awarded the 2016 Macro Group UK Young Researchers Medal.
This medal is awarded by the MacroGroup UK committee, for contributions to polymer science which show outstanding promise for the future. It is awarded annually to a UK-based scientist, with up to 12 years of experience since completion of PhD. Theoni received a bronze medal and will deliver a medal award lecture at a Macro Group UK meeting.
Theoni's research interests involve synthesis and characterisation of polymers and their evaluation in a variety of applications like drug delivery, gene delivery, photothermal therapy etc. She is also interested in the self-assembly of multiblock copolymers, gels and stabilising dispersions or particles by using polymeric macrosurfactants.
