Tate group publications - February 2017

by Jennie Hutton

Four group members have had their work published this month!

Julia collaborated with the group of Petros Petrou (Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics) to demonstrate the role of myristoylation in ER localisation of Stbd1, a protein involved in glycogen regulation and ER-mitochondria interactions.

Tom and Markus worked with scientists at the Institute of Cancer Research to develop a novel assay for a protein lipid transferase, based on the mobility shift seen on palmitoylation of a dye-labelled peptide substrate on a versatile microfluidic analysis platform.

Lisa, in collaboration with the group of Beata Wojciak-Stothard  (Faculty of Medicine at Imperial), helped to demonstrate that the prenyltransferase inhibitor Tipifarnib prevents development of pulmonary hypertension, a serious cardiovascular disease. This work was funded by the British Heart Foundation and will be highlighted as editor’s choice in the upcoming issue of Cardiovascular Research.

Congratulations to everyone involved!
