Four Tate group members are through to the final of CDT Den 2017!
The CDT Den pitches teams of students from the Institute of Chemical Biology Centre for Doctoral Training against each other in a bid to win £10,000 of seed funding for their proposals and this year’s finalists include four Tate group members.
Second year PhD students Theo Flack, Eloise Morecroft and Charlie Saunders will be competing as part of FeedBac, a chemical formulations and diagnostics start-up along with other ICB students James Hindley and Jon Rains. FeedBac aims to produce colour changing formulations to use as quick, affordable and simple bacterial diagnostic tests. You can follow their progress on twitter @FeedBacUK.
First year MRes PhD student Ryan Howard will be competing as part of QuickCount: a fast, cheap, portable and easy method to perform a full blood count in the palm of your hand. QuickCount, also including other ICB MRes students Malte Rohle, Zainab Ahmed, Roma Galloway and Mohit Devgan, is addressing the large administrative problem in the healthcare industry of sending off and processing blood samples by bringing cell separation technology directly into the clinic.
The final will take place on Wednesday 5th April at 5pm in the Business School. Register for tickets here
Good luck to both teams!
