Imperial has responded to the government's consultation on their Building our Industrial Strategy Green Paper.

Following consultation across the College, the response highlights its investment in world-class talent and research that drives productivity and growth across the whole of the UK.

The consultation response emphasises that investing in high-level skills for a broader cross-section of the population will supply our science, research and innovation pipeline for years to come.

It stresses the importance of continued access to EU programmes and collaboration, and an immigration system that allows the College to continue to recruit the best and brightest students, academics and entrepreneurs.

The College also calls for the Government to provide a roadmap to spending 3% of GDP on R&D investment in line with international counterparts, noting the evidence that publicly funded R&D brings in private sector, charitable and other inward investment.

Imperial further calls for the Government to recognise the importance of fundamental research in pushing back the frontiers of scientific discovery, whilst highlighting the College’s commitment to translation as demonstrated by the Imperial Incubator.

The Incubator’s new home, the White City campus, will be a research and innovation district, allowing researchers to co-locate and collaborate with industry and research partners to develop the next generation of advanced technologies.
