Inventions and innovations showcased at the Imperial Festival

by Hayley Dunning

Researchers introduced people to the future all weekend at the Imperial Festival, showcasing innovations in robots, food, health, energy and more.

All inventions and innovations start with ideas, and this year's Festival took people on an immersive journey through the creative process.

Continuum, presented by the Imperial College Advanced Hackspace and the Dyson School of Design Engineering, allowed people to put their ideas through the train of creative thought in the form of a huge set of interconnected machines and tubes.

Once an idea is polished off it heads to prototyping stage, and that's where the Enterprise Lab came in, showcasing some top Imperial student innovations in the Future Zone.

The last stage of an idea is making it a reality, and teams of entrepreneurial Imperial alumni were on hand in the Innovation Zone to showcase their inventions, from kids’ toys to life-changing machinery.

Innovation was present all over the Festival, from edible water bottles to new ways of tackling cancer and powering future cities.
