Economics and society have gone digital, vast amounts of economic and social data are suddenly available. Understanding the impact data science has in the social and economic environment, such as the sharing economy, is crucial for the new era of Big Data. We are pleased to announce WorleyParsons are providing funding for a PhD studentship at the Data Science Institute in the area of ‘social and economic impacts of Data Science’. WorleyParsons is an Australian engineering company that delivers projects and provides expertise in engineering, procurement and construction. Through their independent consulting business Advisian, their Digital Enterprise team uses all forms of data to drive digital transformation in industry.Through their independent consulting business Advisian, their Digital Enterprise team uses all forms of data to drive digital transformation in industry.The qualified candidate chosen for this studentship will work with members in the DSI to conduct high quality research in applying data-driven method in understanding and predicting economic impact on future societies, including new paradigm of data- driven economics, privacy protection in future data economy, and the role of Big Data in the sharing economy.
