Imperial Sports Awards 2017
An evening recognising the talents and contributions of our student athletes and coaches.
On Thursday 11 May, Sport Imperial held the annual Imperial Sports Awards in the Queen’s Lawn Marquee. The event brought together over 180 guests including students, staff, coaches, and sponsors to celebrate the achievements of our students.
Returning for the second year to host the evening was Sky Sports News presenter David Garrido who was joined on stage by our special guest, former England Rugby star, Mike Tindall, MBE. Mike shared with the audience highlights from his Rugby career, including his stint in the 2003 World Cup winning team, answering students questions and debating the British and Irish Lion’s chances in their upcoming tour. He also spoke of his work with the evening’s charity partner Right To Play.
After viewing a showreel of sport highlights, it was on to the main focus of the evening: the awards. Several categories were peer nominated, with members of Sport Imperial and Imperial College Union sitting on the judging panel. The winner of the Outstanding Contribution Award was chosen for by the students.
