Abby Casey wins RSC Energy Sector PhD Thesis Award
Congratulations to Dr Abby Casey, PE-CDT Cohort 3, on winning the RSC Energy Sector PhD Thesis Award 2016!
Abby, supervised by Prof Martin Heeney (Chemistry Department), won the award for her thesis "Optoelectronic properties of new conjugated materials".
Abby is delighted to have won the award: "I am very pleased to have won the 2016 RSC Energy Sector PhD thesis award. It is a great way to celebrate four enjoyable years with the PE-CDT. A big thanks to Martin who has been very supportive throughout my time at Imperial!"
The purpose of the award is to spotlight UK PhD research in the energy sector. The theses are based on the following criteria:
1. The level to which the work (thesis) addresses a clear identified need in UK or global energy requirements.
2. The level to which the work adds significant new understanding to an aspect of the energy sector.
3. The level to which the work contributes to quantifiable environmentally sustainable energy provision
4. The content and quality of the Executive Summary submitted by the candidate
