Get ready for the 10th Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics

Join us during UK Robotics Week from 25th - 28th June as we celebrate our 10th Hamlyn Symposium at the Royal Geographical Society in London.

Through a series of presentations, competitions, challenges and innovations, guests will discover what to expect from the emerging world of medical robotics in the next ten years. 

We have a packed programme for you this year with keynote speeches from Professor Dong-Soo Kwon of the  Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Korea; Dr Catherine Mohr from Intuitive Surgical; Professor Joseph Sung from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Professor Andrew Turberfield from the University of Oxford. 

This year, we are introducing a Leader’s Forum to the conference.  Chaired by Professors Russ Taylor and Hamlyn Centre Co-Director, Guang-Zhong Yang and sponsored by Science Robotics Magazine, our Leaders Forum offers a platform for experts from across the globe to provide their views on the way forward for medical robotics in the years to come.  Experts include Professors Nikolay Vasilyev, Howie Choset, Bradley Nelson and Rick Satava.   

Workshops and demonstrations will be held on Sunday 25^th and Wednesday 28^th June including the unveiling of Intuitive Surgical’s new Davinci X Robot. Our Surgical Robot Challenge will also be hosted on Sunday 25^th June and on Monday 26^th, we are hosting an evening drinks reception at the Science Museum to celebrate our 10^th birthday.

UK Robotics Showcase

The Symposium and UK Robotics Week are brought to a close on the 30^th June during the International UK Robotics Showcase hosted by the UK-RAS Network at the IET Savoy Place in London. 

The showcase will include fascinating and diverse demonstrations of cutting edge robotics technology. Expert panels will then lead lively discussions and debates on the ethical, legal and economic impacts of robotics and artificial intelligence, as well as in using robots for emergency response and disaster relief.

The showcase will conclude with an award ceremony to all the challenge winners.
