Italian researcher recognised for innovative research
Dr Giordano Scarciotti, Junior Research Fellow in the Control and Power group, has been recognised with an 'Italy Made Me' award.
This award is given by the Italian Embassy in London in collaboration with Il Circolo, the Association of Italian Scientists in the United Kingdom (AISUK) and other Italian academic associations, to recognise the accomplishments of young Italian researchers working in the UK.
Giordano was presented the award last week by the Italian Ambassador to the UK at King’s College during the conference of Italian Academics in the UK in the presence of the Italian Ministry of Education.
Giordano says 'I am honoured to receive this award. I am grateful for the inspiration and opportunities I had both at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and at Imperial College and I look forward to solving new challenges in control theory in the next years.'
Giordano did his PhD in the Department and received the 2016 Eryl Cadwaladr Davies Prize for his thesis: ‘Approximation, Analysis and Control of Large-Scale Systems - Theory and Applications’. He is now working on a novel system theoretic approach for wireless power transfer systems with applications to implantable medical devices and consumer electronics. He teaches a fourth-year module - Discrete-time Systems and Computer Control, and he is also a first and third-year tutor.
