Alwin Bucher and Cristian Zagar
Co-authors on paper published in Faraday Discussions
During their second year UROP projects with Prof. Alexei Kornyshev, Alwin and Cristian worked on different aspects of the physical principles of novel electrochemically controlled optical plasmonic metamaterials: nanoshutters. Co-supervised by postdoc Dr. D. Sikdar, Alwin worked on the theory of optical signals of nanoshutters, whilst Cristian, supervised solely by Prof. Kornyshev, developed the theory of the voltage effect on the shutters orientation. Some of this work has been published in Faraday Discussions:
Debabrata Sikdar, Alwin Bucher, Cristian Zagar and Alexei A. Kornyshev, ‘Electrochemical plasmonic metamaterials: towards fast electro-tuneable reflecting nanoshutters’ Faraday Discuss, 2017, 199, 585-602. DOI: 10.1039/C6FD00249H
Alwin and Cristian have now transferred to their final MSci year in the Department of Chemistry.
