Alessio David

Alessio was commissioned by the CDT on Theory and Simulation of Materials to do his MSci project in the Department of Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Fernando Bresme and Prof. Alexei Kornyshev. Alessio joined the research team which also included postdoc Dr. Oscar Fajardo, along with his supervisor from Tel Aviv University, Prof. Michael Urbakh. The team pioneered the theory of electrotuneable nanoscale friction with ionic liquids as lubricant. Alessio’s work focussed on the interplay between surface roughness, voltage bias, and the load on the friction coefficient. As a result of this research, a paper was published in Faraday Discussions:
