Discussions around simulation, education and engagement with a group of senior clinicians in Sardinia
Professor Roger Kneebone of the Centre for Engagement and Simulation Science visited Sardinia in July 2017 at the invitation of Dr Luigi Arru, Minister of Health of the Sardinian Regional Government.
During an intensive three day academic programme, Roger worked with senior clinicians in surgery and the interventional specialties in three Sardinian centres (Cagliari, Nuoro and Sassari), exploring how developments in surgical education and simulation science might apply to their own teaching and clinical practice. The visit has laid the groundwork for further collaboration and cross-fertilisation of experience and ideas in the future.
In one of the sessions, Prof Kneebone was joined by Dr Luigi Arru (Minister of Health of the Region of Sardinia at the Simulation Centre in Nuoro), two jazz musicians and senior airline training captain Alberto Zamboni to discuss education and engagement with 35 senior clinicians.
